About North Dakota Ballet Company
Founded in 1962, The North Dakota Ballet Company, the official ballet company of the state of North Dakota, is a non-profit dance organization committed to promoting classical ballet and other dance styles in Grand Forks and the surrounding areas.
The organization evolved as a professional performance company and has hence become a strong school and artisitic programming outlet for the Grand forks community for the past 48 years. Through our programming we focus on training children-adults on the artistry of dance, movement, musicality, as well as self confidence and character development.
Today North Dakota Ballet Company is under the artistic direction of Laura Dvorak, who combines twenty years of professional experience performing and teaching with a deep commitment to the Grand Forks community. The current vision for North Dakota Ballet Company builds on the accomplishments and knowledge gained through the company's history, and extends the possibilities of increased audiences and participation by the variety of repertoire studied in the areas of ballet, modern, and jazz dance. The North Dakota Ballet Company works with local choreographers as well as nationally known artists to provide unique opportunities for the dancers as well as dance performances for the region.
Since 1962, North Dakota Ballet Company has enjoyed presenting classical ballets complete with professional scenery, costumes, lighting designs, and casts of up to 100 dancers. Past full-scale productions have included Coppélia, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, La Fille Mal Gardee, and now Alice in Wonderland.
Ticket sales make up only a small portion of the income necessary to support a professional ballet company. Corporate and individual donations, in-kind sponsorships, and grants enable North Dakota Ballet Company to provide this unique opportunity for the Grand Forks Community and the State of North Dakota. click here.
